TLS / SSL Security Certificate
A website security certificate is often referred to as an SSL certificate. However, SSL had some security issues and has now been replaced by TLS.
A security certificate is used to verify that the website being displayed is authentic, and also allows data to be encrypted between the web browser and the website. This is very useful to help preventing scams and to keep your personal data secure.
There is now a big movement in the web community to encourage all websites to use security certificates to create a more secure and privacy-respecting web:
- Many web browsers now display warnings if a website does not have a security certificate
- Google and other search engines give a higher ranking to websites with certificates
- Technologies have been made available to make the provision of certificates much cheaper.
J T Response offer access to the new economical certificates as part of our Website Hosting Plus Package. We also supply traditional security certificates for websites offering e-commerce or where a higher level of validation is required.
